Both stats ride on the same farming gear and on Astral Pact. At Hard, a 2× Rating Reward line brings about seven times more Mythic gear than an Ascension line, and from Nightmare up Ascension adds nothing to the Divine gear the run pays. Here is how each stat works, with the numbers.
TL;DR Derived for a dungeon farming set:
A dungeon run pays two separate things:
In Gate of Genesis on Hard with an S grade, that looks like this:
| Reward | What you get |
|---|---|
| Elite rooms | a Rare piece, 30% chance to Ascend to Epic |
| Boss and final boss rooms (2) | a Legendary piece, 0.5% chance to Ascend to Mythic |
| Rating chest | 96.1%: 10 Mythic shards · 2.8%: a whole Mythic piece · 1.1%: a whole Divine piece |
100 shards trade for a Mythic piece you choose. So the chest is about 0.135 Mythic-or-better pieces a run, while the two Ascension rolls are worth 0.01. The chest is where the endgame gear comes from.
2× Rating Reward Rate is the chance the chest is paid twice. The reward-retrieval screen marks the second chest as a bonus. Every point of the stat adds that share of a whole chest:
extra gear a run = your 2× rate × one chest
Gear Drop Ascension Rate works on each room’s own base chance. The server applies it, and the game files don’t say whether it adds to that chance or multiplies it. We read it as multiplying:
chance a room Ascends = base × (1 + your Ascension rate)
Two things point that way. If it added, Astral Pact alone (+75%, which every player builds up from Season Levels) would Ascend 75.5% of Legendary drops. That is 1.5 Mythic pieces a run, about 11 times what the carefully tuned chest pays. And one player who counted 12 runs at +20% saw a single Legendary-to-Mythic Ascension, which is normal at 0.6% a roll and very unlikely at 20.5%.
Extra Mythic-or-better pieces per 100 runs of Gate of Genesis on Hard, S grade:
| Source | 2× Rating | Ascension | 2× is worth |
|---|---|---|---|
| One any-dungeon line (2× +5%, Ascension +10%) | +0.68 | +0.1 | 6.8× |
| One kingdom line (2× +10%, Ascension +20%) | +1.35 | +0.2 | 6.8× |
| Astral Pact maxed (2× +50%, Ascension +75%) | +6.75 | +0.75 | 9× |
A 2× line has half the percentage of an Ascension line, and it still brings about 7 times more gear, because it multiplies the whole chest instead of two 0.5% rolls. The Lucky Statue relic adds +10% to +40% 2× Rating Reward Rate by its stars, with no Ascension version at all. If Ascension did add instead of multiply, one +10% line would be worth 20 pieces per 100 runs and the order would flip, so this is the one number we want to confirm with a capture.
From Nightmare up the chest pays Divine shards and Divine pieces. The rooms still drop Legendary gear with the same 0.5% roll to Mythic. Ascension can only ever make gear a tier below what the run is for, so its value there is close to nothing. 2× Rating Reward keeps doubling the Divine chest.
Below Hard the picture is the same in kind. Normal runs have one 0.5% roll to Mythic and one Epic-to-Legendary roll, and the chest still pays Mythic shards from Cinder Ridge on. In Verdantglade the chest is one whole Epic or Legendary piece, and 2× wins there as well.
The Dungeon rewards calculator does this sum for any dungeon, difficulty and grade, with your own rates.
Both rolls happen on the server. We take 2× Rating Reward Rate at its word: the rate is the chance. How Ascension meets the base chance is the reading above, not a measured rule. Whether a doubled chest rolls again or repeats the first one doesn’t change the average. Retrieved rewards get both stats too, as the game’s retrieval tip says.
