A dungeon run pays room drops and one rating chest. Dungeon: Gear Drop Ascension Rate works on the room drops and 2× Rating Reward Rate works on the chest. Pick a dungeon and type your rates to see what each one adds.
Which one should your gear carry? Read the comparison: per gear line, 2× Rating Reward brings several times more Mythic gear.

A full stack of shards counts as one piece (it trades for a piece you choose). Room drops count the most rooms of that kind on any route. Your 2× rate is the chance the chest is paid twice. Your Ascension rate is read as multiplying each room’s base chance, with the added reading shown small.
| One chest pays | Chance |

One chest per run, by your grade. 2× Rating Reward Rate is the chance you get it twice.
Every Elite, Boss and final boss room drops one piece of gear. When you claim, each piece rolls once to Ascend one quality. That roll has a base chance even with 0% Dungeon: Gear Drop Ascension Rate:
| Upgrade | Base chance per room |
|---|---|
| Rare to Epic | 30% (Verdantglade: 10%) |
| Epic to Legendary | 20% (Verdantglade: 5%) |
| Legendary to Mythic | 0.5% |
| In this dungeon | Rooms | Base | Multiplied | Added |
|---|
Multiplied = base × (1 + your rate). Added = base + your rate. Rooms is how many rooms with that upgrade one run passes, fewest to most, over the routes you can take through the map. The line under each chance is the chance of at least one upgrade in a run that passes the most of those rooms.
A dungeon uses the general version of each stat plus the version named after its own kingdom. A kingdom version does nothing in another kingdom’s dungeons.

These are special gear lines from Epic quality up. A kingdom’s line has a smaller and a bigger version on different pieces. The Equipment page shows which lines each piece can roll.
Each fight room in a dungeon map lists the gear it gives and the gear it can turn into, with a weight for each: 70 to 30 for Rare to Epic, 80 to 20 for Epic to Legendary, 199 to 1 for Legendary to Mythic (90 to 10 and 95 to 5 in Verdantglade). When you claim, the game reports for each room the reward the room offered and the one you got, and marks the item as upgraded when they differ. Each map also lists the chest for every grade. Both stats are applied on the game’s server. We take the 2× rate as the chance of a second chest, and read the Ascension rate as multiplying the room’s base chance; the reasons are in the blog post. The general and kingdom versions of a stat adding together is also an inference. Retrieved rewards get both stats, as the game’s reward retrieval tip says. Checked against the game’s tables and in-game screens.
