Class change: where every skill goes

Changing class doesn’t throw your skills away. Each one turns into a skill of the new class line and keeps its rank and level. The left pane is your line; the right pane is what each skill can become. Hover a skill (or tap it) to read it.

How the game pairs them. When you start a change, the game rolls 3 plans and you pick one. For each plan it walks both class lines tier by tier. At every tier it sorts each class’s skills into groups by kind (Technique or Charm) and by the quality the skill starts at, shuffles the new class’s group, and pairs the two groups off in order. A skill can only ever become a skill from the same group, so the rows above are the complete list of outcomes.

What the odds mean. A group of two is a coin flip in each plan; a group of one always lands the same way. At tier 1 a Warrior-line class changing to a Mage-line class (or back) shuffles groups of four or five. Inside the same root, the tier-1 skills stay where they are. The game rerolls up to 50 times to make the 3 plans differ in where the skills you own end up.

What moves with a skill. The new skill takes the old one’s rank and level, and the skill pieces swap with it. Class levels and class badges swap along the line too. Higher tiers you haven’t reached are paired the same way, in case you already own skills from them.

Cost and timing. One change is free every 168 hours; otherwise it costs a class-change item. You can cancel within 8 hours, which undoes the swap.

Where this comes from. Checked against the game’s class lines, each skill’s starting quality and the class-change settings. The plans themselves are rolled on the game’s server. The app on your phone carries the same pairing rule, so we take it that the server follows it too.
